Our History

The 735 N.Water Street building, designed by famed architect Daniel Burnham, opened its doors in 1914 and was an immediate sensation serving as one of the city’s tallest and most ornate skyscrapers. Burnham, who designed a number of famous American buildings including the Flatiron Building in New York City and Union Station in Washington D.C., based much of his work on the classical style of Greece and Rome. That influence is still prevalent today with cornices, fluted pilasters, stone urns, and bay leaf wreaths adorning its façade.

Early in the 21st Century, the majestic Burnham-designed building was transformed into CityCenter @ 735 as part of a campaign called “History in the Remaking.” Today, CityCenter is a vibrant, energy efficient and LEED certified business center. Tenants enjoy a great location in the heart of Milwaukee’s business, government, and performing arts districts with all the modern amenities that make CityCenter a “best in class” address for success.
